This is Pankaj Batra from amritsar working on LIC project.
I am facing 2 main problem regarding printing and change of IP address on PCs.
Here we have problem in HCL make model PCs in which when we try to chenge the IP address then after rebooting the old IP if shown on giving command ifconfig and it is also not on network , till we give command "service network restart".After giving this command new IP address comes in effect and all funtional till we reboot the machine.
If we reinstall the OS then the problem is rectified but there are about 3-4 PCs of HCL in 18 locations.
Please give solution.

It sounds like for some reason the kernel ignored your card:
"dmesg" will show you the kernel recognizing all of the hardware, the ethernet card should be somewhere near the bottom. If its there, which I doubt.
Your can Configure the ip from follwing command:-
System-config-network if it will not work then use
Redhat-config-network
It will ask like this:
What you want to configure ..?
1 internet
2 modem
3 isdn
Chose first one (internet)
Then you have to fill up the following entry:
1. Name of the internet card = you can use ( eth0)
2. Device = eth0
3. use dhcp (unmark this if selected)
4. static ip ( give the ip that you want to give)
5. netwmask - ------------------------------
6. default gateway----------------------------
And restart the service like this……
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart

i am facing a problam regarding windows in SBI corebanking branch. when we are connect any pc fromm domin that the earror showing the earror is this (A domain controller for the domain name could not be conacted .ensure that the domain name is typed correctly if the mane correct click details for trabule shooting .
this earror is showing few branches ..

Hi Vikas,
Your domain controller may be malfunctioning. When you log on to a domain, the logon information is saved, but changes to your profile may not be. If a workstation tries to join the network with a computer name that is the same as a Windows 2000 domain name, the Windows 2000 Workstation service on all workstations participating in the domain fails to start during system startup. Workstations already logged on before the duplication of the domain name will continue to operate successfully.
You can still log on, but you may want to wait until the domain controller can be contacted. When this error is reported by workstations in a domain, identify the computer, remove it from the network, and configure it with a unique computer name. To identify the computer, use STAT32, WINMSD, or another utility to resolve the name in question to an Ethernet address. The Ethernet address can then be used to trace the workstation.
You should also check the DNS entry on cleint side.

Dear sir.
we are facing problam in chambal home page not set every time open "http://bro.gov.in" .
if set home page is blank after refress open same page.
and set default setting facing same problam..

If you are unable to change default home page in IE6
Method-1:
To change the Home page in registry.
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey, if it exists:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
4. If the ResetWebSettings value or the HomePage value exists in this key, right-click the
values, and then click Delete.
Note You may also want to verify any Web site information contained in the Default_Page_URL value
and the Start Page value in the following registry keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Intern et Explorer\Main
HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
HKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion.
6. On the File menu or on the Registry menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
Method-2:
Go to task manager, select the processes tab bar, find winlgn.exe. after that, stop that process.
then open the registry editor window (run->regedit) and find key "web page". after u find the
string at "start page" key (start page: dword value: http://web page.com/index.htm), delete that
entire key. then restart ur computer. it sholud be working then...

i am facing problem for power on hp lite 8200 pc . the pc boot every time after remove power cable and press bios reset button for 5 sec. .
